Care Home Open week was a brilliant opportunity to meet new people and organisations. We hosted two special sessions so local communities, friends, families, museums and art galleries could meet people living and working in our partner care communities.
Local communities joined Keychange
Vibrant Communities are partners with Keychange care provider. We host Keychange’s digital community and provide live, online events and social groups for people living and working in their communities.
We have worked with them to create a bespoke event just for their communities – a regular Christian service called Praise, Prayer and Togetherness. During Care Home Open Week we opened up this regular service so that Keychange care homes could invite their local communities, friends and families along too.
We all enjoyed singing our favourite hymns and meeting new people during the service. We were joined by a local church and other people who were specially invited. What a wonderful way to get to know each other better and celebrate together.
Museums and other places of interest
Many thanks also to everyone who came along to our Connecting with new older audiences event.
This event was for art galleries, museums, nature reserves, heritage sites or other places of interest. We looked at how online sessions can help older people, particularly those living with dementia, to engage with others and find meaning.
A huge welcome to Hayleigh Jutson from Oxford University Museum of Natural History who will be hosting some events for Vibrant Communities later this summer.
